Bike Culture And The Local Economy

There seems to always be a conflict between pro-bicycling boosters and critics. The argument invariably turns to "Bikes don't stop at stop signs" and occasionally "Spending money on bike lanes takes it away from where it's really needed on X,Y,Z)."  It's hard to have a meaningful conversation based on those two talking points. The big discussion needs to be how encouraging bicycling actually improves the community and economy. If there's someone you know that doesn't quite get it, here is a very well reasoned and thoughtful article on how bicycles can do just that: http://www.modeldmedia.com/features/growingbikeecon613.aspx
